June 23rd countdown,31 yrs
A carrot for me to get through the heat in June is our anniversary on June 23rd. We get to go for a drive to Cloud Croft N.M. It's up in the mtns,& its 20 F cooler. I hate the hour drive thru the desert,it's all flat!! But I luv the climb up the mtns. It reminds me of Zion withs its rocks. I luv the mtn.climb up. @the top is the old part like Park City ,Ut. It has board side walks w/ an old Hotel I like looking@ the old pic's in the hall. there is 1 shop I like looking @ w/the ceramic items etc. We usually pick up my cinnamon pistachios @ 1 place. There is another place we stop
@ that has picnic tables to eat on. We pack a lunch since the food is too expensive to eat up there. It's so nice to eat out in the cool air. I miss our picnic's in American Fork Canyon ,Ut. We go there when it was to hot,& go there to eat to cool off.
It's interesting to think what different b/grounds Allen & I came from. We met @ Brigham Young Univ. I'm a Texan who grew up in small towns, spent my teen summers working on my g-father's ranch,&lived in various states.Allen comes from a blue collar family,he's the 1st to go to college in his family. He always lived in Conn, til he went to Utah He lived in Danbury & Bridgeport ,Conn. He's the analytical one, a programmer, my degree is in Early child,Ed& Elem. Ed. He is very intelligent, I've gotten thru life by the seat of my pants. We have 4 children, twin girls will turn 30 in July,Forest & Laura. We have 3 g/kids that live in N.C.

Greenware NOT BROKEN after 7 YRS!!!
I got 2 more boxes out my closet. G/ware has been packed away when we put up our house for sale in Ft. Worth. A shop was closing down & I bought some Southwest pieces. Amazing after being moved around in 3 places & on a moving truck out here, they were intact
G/ware is fragile. Case in point, I forgot to put n/paper on my table. I had wet a piece to put stars in it. The bottom came off since it had absorbed the water.
Ceramics is on its way out too. I had Allen to set up a table o/side for me to clean it up because of the dust it creates. I had on my face mask for the dust & the mulberry tree pollen . My hands & elbows hurt from all the strain from engraving my designs on them. I stayed o/side most of the a/noon working on them. I picked a real nice day to be o/side. I wanted to get this done before the major sand storms hit this week.
2 of them are votive c/holders. I designed them to look like Franklin Mtns. theme The 3rd piece is a Southwest Wedding jug. I was trying to look@ some pic's I had saved to think of a design. The tree next door I was looking @ jumped into my mind. One side of the jug has the tree etched into it. It represents the tree we planted 30 yrs ago & has grown. The other side has our initials w/a diamond triangle separting them. The top part w/the handle will be glazed. The other parts I'm using Duncan s/west underglazes .I want to show the contrast between the 2 of us who have made this 30 yr bond.
This will be my last ceramic pieces. This time I will keep them for us .I have given away many of my projects as gifts. I started doing this in 1976 as a creative diversion from stress @ BYU.

Lost more weight,again
Down to 134lbs today. Went to GI doc. Got to my back to my doc, derm doc, check out a spot on my leg been there awhile.More lab work ordered.
A hard wk,my friend Paula Harrison died of cancer last July. My 3rd friend,b/in-law died of cancer. Paula still had 2 t/age kids @ home. She &I raised our kids together in A.F, Utah, served my twin dau's as a leader in YW org. of the LDS church. I just talked to her a yr ago C-mas. I didn't get a card from a friend I known for 23 yrs. I finally connected w/her today. She has lost her foot from cancer. She had skin cancer, stage 4,now is stage 1 due to a cancer diet. She's a widow @ young age ,Kurt died of lung cancer. She can't use cruthes go d/stairs. Charlee is another survivor.
I did 9 s/k pg's y/day,2 more started. Finally got started on doing my mission s/bk from 35 yrs ago. I have made pockets for journal entries,s/bk, the 1st part of me leaving Texas for SLC,Ut. Working on s/lites on my companions. As missionaries we had to stay 24 hrs w/our companions,no TV,n/papers,radio,dating or movies. I spent 1yr in BC,Canada,6mo's in Alaska. We pay our own way and don't hold a job down . It was an interesting experience,h/light of my life. I made some gd friends then. I'm so glad I went. My body is in the trash can now.
